FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Got a question? We’re here to help.

Check back here regularly as new questions may be added.

  • What districts are attending the Career Fair?

Please see above this section for a list of school districts participating in the 2022 Career Fair.

  • What can I expect at the Career Fair?

You can expect a loud, fast-paced, exciting environment!  There will be hundreds of people searching for jobs and a large number of districts waiting to meet you.

Some booths will have large numbers of candidates waiting to speak with them- either arrive early or see if there is a wait list you can put your name on to come back to visit with someone.

Visit all booths and keep an open mind- even if you think you wouldn't want to work there.  You might surprise yourself and find a perfect fit with a district that was different than you expected.

  • What should I wear?

This is a professional setting in which you are trying to obtain a job.  To that end, wear professional clothing and a smile.  Remember, you never get a second chance to make a great first impression!

ACCEPTABLE items include but are not limited to: suits, dress skirts, nice slacks, button down shirt, ties, professional dress, blazer, dress shoes, heels, pumps.

UNADVISED items include but are not limitied to: crop shirts, shorts, flip flops, extrememly low cut blouses or skirts, sweats, spaghetti strap dresses.

  • What should I bring to the Career Fair?

Several copies of your resume: Make sure they have been proofread at least twice!

    Other possible items include:

    • Water
    • Mints (Leave the gum at home or in  your car.  We do not want to see you chewing gum while talking with us)
    • Tissues
    • Snacks- although food will be available to purchase
    • Small mirror to make sure your hair looks good and you don't have food in your teeth
    • Lint brush
    • Lip balm
    • Wipes
    • Stain remover stick
    • Anti-bacterial spray, gel, foam, etc.
  • How much time should I plan on being at the Career Fair?

Plan on being at the Career Fair most of the day.  You can always leave early if you've talked with everyone on your list.

  • What are districts looking for when talking to candidates?

Districts are looking for a confident, upbeat and positive person who truly is passionate about serving children.

We are really good at assimilating a lot of information about you in a short amount of time so be sure to have a firm handshake, look people in the eyes when speaking to them, smile, and be conscious of your body language.

  • What information, if any, will districts have about me prior to the Career Fair?

Districts will receive a list of all people who registered for the Career Fair.  This list will include your name, address, phone, email, answers to the questions around endorsements, etc., and your resume if you have uploaded it.

  • Can I see a list of openings for each district?

If the school district sends me a list of their openings, I will link it to their school district name above.

Look for these beginning the week of: February 22

  • Can I bring my cell phone and is there wifi?

Yes to both questions.  There will be a lot of people accessing the wifi, however, so it may be intermittantly slow.

A note on cell phones... use them at the Career Fair on an "as needed" basis only.  We are really interested in talking to YOU and we won't compete with your phone for your attention.

  • I didn't register online. Can I still register at the event?

Yes.  Onsite registration begins at 8:15 am on the day of the event.  The onsite registration fee is $40.00.  Credit / debit cards only.  NO CASH (including checks) will be accepted.

  • Should I apply to positions online before coming to the Career Fair?

You can but it is not required.

  • I didn't upload a resume or would like to re-submit the resume I uploaded with my registration.

If you did not upload your resume upon registration, or you have made edits to your resume and would like to re-submit it, please send an email with your first and last name and your resume to  admin@wspa.net

  • I didn't upload a resume. Should I bring one to the Career Fair?

Yes!  Bring enough copies of your resume to share with all of the districts with whom you want to meet.

  • Will districts be interviewing people at the career fair?

Yes.  Districts with an asterisk have purchased separate interview booths.  If a district hasn't purchased an interview booth, they may conduct interviews at their booth.

  • The map of school districts is too small to read. Can I zoom in at all?

Each of the six region names above are linked to a map of that region.  Click on the region name to get a better view of the districts within the region.

  • Will other states be represented or is it just Washington School Districts?

We currently have districts participating from Alaska, California, Idaho, Nevada and Oregon.

  • Is lunch provided with my registration?

No.  Lunch is not provided, however there will be food vendors onsite with options for you.

  • Any other tips or advice?

Take a notebook and keep a record of the districts you visited and the people you spoke to at the booth.

Send them a handwritten thank you note when you go home.
