The 2023 Legislative Session is almost half over. What's moving--and what's dead? This presentation will review the status of priority K-12 education legislation, in particular issues of interest to Human Resource professionals. Potential outcomes of the Session will also be discussed.
This presentation will cover the legal implications of staff shortages in the area of special education, including the rise of claims and rulings against school districts regarding the denial of FAPE to children. The presentation will include ideas for school districts to address staff shortages in special education, including in regards to recruiting, hiring, and retention practices.
Review new state rules limiting which employees are exempt from overtime eligibility.
Presentation will address successful planning and execution of reductions in force of certificated and classified school personnel.
